2.1 Linear Motion

Analysing Linear Motion.

1.      Linear motion is motion in a straight line.

2.      In analyzing the linear motion of an motion, several concepts have to be clearly

         defined and understood.

Concept of Distance and Displacement

1.      Distance is the total length of the path traveled by an object.

2.      Distance is a scalar quantity. It does not take into account the direction traveled

         by an object.

3.      Displacement of an object is the distance of its final position from its initial

         position in a specified direction.

4.      Displacement is a vector quantity.

5.      Both distance and displacement have the same SI unit which is metre, m.
