5.1 Reflection of Light
1. The ray of light can be reflected by a mirror.
2. The line drawn at right angles to the mirror’s surface where the incident ray strikes is called the normal.
3. The incident ray is the ray of light that is directed onto the plane mirror.
4. The reflected ray is the ray that is reflected by the plane
mirror.
5. The angle of incidence, i is the angle between the incident ray and the normal.
6. The angle of reflection, r is the angle between the
reflected ray and the normal.
7. The Law of Reflection:
- The incident ray, the reflected ray and the normal all lie on the same plane.
- Angle of incident = Angle of reflection; i =r
9. Application of the Law of Reflection
